These homeowners in Chester, Maryland were suffering from high energy cost and microbial growth coming from their crawl space.
Our solution to fix that problem involved us spray foaming the rim joist inside the crawl space, adding CleanSpace Drainage Matting, our exclusive Everlast Crawl Space Door, and Silver-Glo on the walls. Ensuring the homeowner needs were met and another successful Dr. Energy Saver Project!
A rim joist is a board that caps off the floor joist and forms the outer box of the floor assembly. Without the proper insulation or air sealing of the rim joist could result in condensation and higher fuel and electric bills. More than 30% of air
This is what one homeowner in Queenstown, MD were experiencing. Living with cold floors and a increase in cost of home ownership, they went online and found Dr. Energy Saver.
Our In Home Comfort Specialist then came out and inspected their crawl space and noticed that not only were the rim joist not insulated, but had noticed microbial growth had started forming. The rim joist were sweating from the hot/humid temperatures inside the crawl space causing this growth.
Immediately, the homeowners were very concerned about the microbial growth and also their cold floors and scheduled the project. Our production team then came in and spray foamed each rim joist. This reduces heat loss and infiltration of cold air by sealing and insulating the joist and also getting rid of the microbial growth!
Homeowners in Hebron, Maryland were dealing with high humidity inside of their crawlspace. Usually, the relative humidity inside of a crawlspace should range in between 45%-60% in RH(relative humidity). This range determines if your crawlspace is too dry or has to much air moisture leading to sweaty, damp, and smelly insulation.
These homeowners called out Dr. Energy Saver to fix their issue. During the inspection of his crawlspace, we measured the RH at 73.5% which caused his crawlspace to become potentially an area for microbial growth. We resolved this issue before any damages were done by installing our SaniDry dehumidifier.
This will result in the humidity levels to drop and remain constant and a healthy, dry, and odorless crawlspace. These homeowners were thrilled at the results.
Homeowners in Harrington, DE wanted to create a conditioned attic out of their vented attic.
These homeowners had dirty and old attic insulation that needed to be removed. After the many months or years that insulation sits in the attic, it collects dirt, dust, rodents, etc.
Not only did they need new their old insulation removed, they also needed a product that would properly insulate their vented attic.
Vented attics can reach extreme temperatures do to air leakage. This causes the attic to not be suitable for storage as well as causes high utility costs.
Dr. Energy Saver Delmarva has installed closed cell spray foam in layers along the bottom of the roof deck and sealed to the perimeter of the ceiling. This creates an airtight cap which stops air from leaking in or out of the attic.
After spray foam insulation, the attic can be used for storage, the home is less drafty and it helps lower utility costs.
Homeowner's in Salisbury, MD. had a leaky crawl space access door and well. Leaky crawl space access doors can cause mold, rot, bugs, water and odors. The well over time fills up with leaves and water. To solve this common problem, Dr. Energy Saver Delmarva must seal off all water and air from the outside.
The solution to this problem is the Turtl Crawl Space Access System. The Turtl Crawl Space access system is an airtight door and a sealed access well in one unit. All a homeowner has to do is open the lid to crawl into the crawl space without getting wet or dirty. The Turtl is airtight, watertight and will never rust or rot.
Homeowner's in Milton, DE needed their attic installed with Spray Foam.
Their attic was vented, which creates an area for drastic temperatures such as -30 degrees Fahrenheit in the winter and up to 125 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer. This creates a bad place for storing items. This allows drafts within the home, uncomfortable rooms and high utility costs.
Closed Cell Spray Foam is sprayed in layers on the bottom of the roof deck and sealed along the perimeter of the ceiling. This creates an airtight cap on the home to prevent drafts and to keep the attic at the same temperature of the home.
Homeowner's in Milton, DE called Dr. Energy Saver because they needed the ducts in their home clean.
Homeowner’s want their home to be clean and comfortable in all aspects, but what about the parts of the house they don’t see every day? In a six room home, up to 40 pounds of dust is created every day. The dust is pulled into the HVAC system and re-circulated 5-7 times per day. The ongoing process creates contaminants in the duct work. This can cause allergies, asthma and other respiratory problems. Dirty ducts can also cause the HVAC units to work harder creating higher utility costs.
Dr. Energy Saver will clean the duct work to prevent future leakage.
The registers are taken off to be cleaned. Then, the duct work is cleaned with a 360 circular rotating brush called the Rotobrush. This brush cleans every angle of the duct work thoroughly. The dust and dirt is then collected into a vacuum. Finally, the duct work is treated with an antimicrobial treatment.
The homeowner called us out for duct cleaning but after talking with our Home Comfort Specialist, the homeowners realized that they no longer needed to live with the cold floors in the winter.
The Dr. Energy Saver Specialist did a thorough inspection and showed the homeowners how the problem could be fixed by removing the old nasty fiberglass insulation and spray foaming the floor underneath their home.
This homeowner now has a more comfortable home in the winter time with warmer floors and has reduced the amount of heating and cooling they will need to keep the home more comfortable year round.
