Is it safe to be home during a blower-door test?

Families in Delmarva can enjoy a more comfortable home after a blower door test. The blower door test is one of our resources we use to test the energy efficiency of homes. It is oftentimes part of our home energy audit, which is a culmination of tests we perform throughout a home and enables us to evaluate all functions and effects on efficiency from the basement to the attic.

It is completely safe to be home during a blower door test. The blower door test helps us to identify areas of air infiltration by simulating a 20"25 mph wind blowing against the outside of the house. Technically speaking, the test works from the inside by depressurizing the building and measuring the number of times the air inside the house exchanges with the air outside. Don't worry; it's completely safe for people, pets, and plants.
