What is a Blower Door Test?

An infiltrometer, also known as a blower door, is a fan set up in an exterior doorway with a computer attached to it. The blower door will measure how much air leaks within the home. All homes leak air, but some homes leak more than others. Depending on the size of the home and occupants, depends on how much the home should leak. Any extra leakage is just a waste of energy and money.

Unwanted air leakage causes drafts, dust and uncomfortable rooms. The blower door is an excellent tool to homeowner's because it shows where in the home air is leaking and how Dr. Energy Saver can solve it.

Dr. Energy saver not only does blower door tests for homeowners, but also for new construction. Blower door tests are run by Dr. Energy Saver's service technician to make sure the new home meets building code.
